Gateway to the Wild West

As you drive through Fargo on I-94, you're bound to see this arched walk-way. Some people call it an over-walk, some call it the Fargo Arch and some call it the Gateway to the West**. Whatever you want to call it, it needs some twinkly lights or something to really make it look great at night. (Click on the picture to see it in its full glory.)

**Some say that St. Louis copied the idea of Fargo's Archway for their larger version.

Scenic Fargo

Fargo, North Dakota was recently voted one of the most scenic cities in the country. Vistas like this overpass show why. This photo was snapped on eastbound I-94 at the tri-level overpass. Q: Were you driving while you took this picture? A: No, I was being driven by my driver, but thanks for axing. (Click on picture to zoom in.)

Pair Of Blizzards

Just for the record: On this day in Fargo (North Dakota), we got hit by a Blizzard #1. Fargo made the national news for the 100-car (and truck) pile-up, on east-bound I-94, just west of West Fargo. The most oft-heard phrase on the radio call-ins: White Out. Tomorrow is to bring (stronger) Blizzard #2 blowing in, in the wake of (nasty) Blizzard #1. What a way to end Y-2010. Maybe we'all should pray for some Global Warming.

Nice Sign

Is North Dakota the only state where we have signs like this? Is this why North Dakota folks are so darn friendly?

There are NEWMAN signs on the interstate highways telling us to "Smile" and "Be Grateful". It's actually a nice change from always being sold something or trying to get us to take a certain exit to stop at a particular place. On this Thanksgiving Day (and everyday in ND), it never hurts to be reminded to "Be Kind" to those around you, to "Smile" to brighten up the day, and "Be Grateful" for all the good we have, and all the bad we don't have.

Next Exit

On our way back to Fargo from Bismarck today, we noticed this road sign (on the left side of the highway):

We were wondering if BBQs are served every day at 2PM? Would "they" still be serving at 5PM? Is it worth it to drive one mile North and then two miles East in order to find out? Is this somebody's kitchen we're talking about here? Would there be an extra beer in the fridge?
